Week 91

This week was a stressful week for us.  We had the uhaul rental scheduled, people lined up to paint the interior of our home and help us move, however Thursday morning we were still waiting to pass the last 4 inspections.  Thursday morning some of the families came out to make the necessary corrections, so we could pass the inspections that afternoon.  We all worked hard covering up drip lines, adding gravel, and planting trees.  Around 2 the first inspector showed up.  We all continued to work, while we watched the inspector.  During that inspection another inspector showed up. Around 4 the final inspection took place. Around 4:30 we heard good news that we passed all the inspections.  Yeah! We were all so excited.  Here are the photos of our final day (we tried to get photos of every family in front of their homes, but Luisa had to work, so we did not get a photo of Andres and Luisa):  April 4, 2014, we meet with the loan company and they inspected our homes.

 Here we are at the meetings where they gave us a binder with all the subcontractors names and warrantees for our homes.

 Here they are giving us a housewarming gift.

 Debbie made Facio  a quilt with all of our handprints on it with our lot numbers.

We received the keys to our new home around 11 am.  By noon we were painting.  We were so blessed to have many friends come celebrate with us, by helping us paint our new homes.  We were able to repaint every room except the laundry and bathrooms, by 9 p.m.

The next day was moving day for Debbie's family and my family. Again, we had many friends show up to help us move. Here are some photos of that day:

As the friends that helped us moved left, more friends showed up to help us unpack our boxes.  Quickly empty boxes piled up on our porch. By the end of Saturday the only room that needed to be unboxed was the living room (book shelves).  I am blessed.

Sunday, we were able to return to church.  What a happy day for us!

I am so thankful for all the help we have gotten during this building process.  We were blessed with friends, co-workers, and other volunteers that came out giving of there time to help us build our beautiful homes.  From the beginning we have a had a list of names of volunteers.  It was printed on a legal size paper.  By the end the list was on both sides of the paper. They used a very small font to list the names, too.  It is incredible to think of all those people helping us out. Wow!

We are so thankful that the house is done.  I wake up every morning not yet fully comprehending that this is our home.  We own it.  What an incredible blessing this home is to us!

Next week I will post pictures of our home unpacked.  In the upcoming weeks (after they are settled in their homes), Debbie and Deena will share their thoughts.

Isaiah 12

Thanksgiving Expressed

12 Then you will say on that day,
I will give thanks to You, O Lord;
For although You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away,
And You comfort me.
“Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
For the Lord God is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.”
Therefore you will joyously draw water
From the springs of salvation.
And in that day you will say,
Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name.
Make known His deeds among the peoples;
Make them remember that His name is exalted.”
Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things;
Let this be known throughout the earth.
Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.
