Week 55

This is going to be a short post today.  I have a lot to do around my house to catch up on laundry and getting it clean.   After the safety meeting, Facio showed us the landscaping plans.  I wish I had more time to study it.  We then were told that 3 out of 5 house need items done on them to pass inspection.  Facio is planning on doing 4 inspections a week for the next couple of weeks.  We were blessed with many friends and family coming out to help us again this weekend.   Here is our weekend in pictures:

John Marc and Austin adding blocking for shear on Deena's house.

Roxanne helping Deena

Marie and Paula helping me with wrapping the attic
 Debbie's house with plumbing.

 Jacob and Leticia's volunteer working on lot 12.

It is always such a blessing to have so many volunteers to help us.  Right now, progress seems slow.  The sub contractors are coming out making some progress.  Hopefully, we will continue to pass inspections and get more houses roofed.

Prayer Requests:

1) Facio wisdom on how to lead and teach us.
2) Sub contractors continue to make progress
3) Volunteers will come help us roof our homes.
4) Our group will continue to get along and make progress each weekend

A lot of people ask me when will be done.  We have asked and we can not get a date.  It all depends on how fast we get the work done and how many hours we are willing to put in to get the work done.  We are way beyond needing just to put our 40 hours a week per family.  We need 40 plus hours to get the work done to get in our homes sometime in the next 6 months.  Summer has been great for working in the evening after work.  A group of families try to go out Tuesday evening to get some work done.

For me I know God has the perfect day for us to complete these homes. He is incomplete control over all that has happened this year and is going to happened in the future.  I will continue to trust that His plans for us are better than anyone we could dream up.  Look at the beautiful house he has given us and the wonderful friends and family we have to support and help us.  Thank you everyone one for helping us this weekend.

Psalm 139

God’s Omnipresence and Omniscience.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

139 O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O Lord, You know it all.
You have enclosed me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in [f]Sheol, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
And the light around me will be night,”
12 Even the darkness is not dark to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You.
13 For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When I awake, I am still with You.
19 O that You would slay the wicked, O God;
Depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.
20 For they speak against You wickedly,
And Your enemies take Your name in vain.
21 Do I not hate those who hate You, O Lord?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with the utmost hatred;
They have become my enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.

Week 54

Saturday we started with our safety meeting.  Facio told us we passed shear inspection on lot 6 and 7.  We now can start roofing those houses.  YEAH!  We should be getting inspections on a few houses each week.  We were told to go back to where we were last weekend.  Front porches were being worked on by John, Pat, Steve, Brandon, Carlos, Paul, and Robert.  Jackie, Maria, Leticia, Luisa, Evelyn, and Delilah continued blocking.  Debbie, Deena, and I continued foiling the attics.  Jacob, Michael, and David worked on prepping for the gas line.  Lupe worked on the false braces on the gable ends of the craftsman style houses. Naty and Jesseyna painted the fascia on lot 6. Alfredo, Tony, and Andy worked on putting down the felt on lot 6.  Sunday Facio showed us the colors of the exterior of our homes.

Very tired this morning.  I spent 3 hours in the ER last night with my son.  He fractured his wrist last night.  So this is going to be a short post today.  I am going to be very busy today playing chauffeur.

Please pray for us:

1) our safety out at the job site and for our children. A few people have gotten hurt the last month.
2) the inspections go well
3) people come  to help us roof our houses.
4) wisdom for Facio and Toby as they  direct us on finishing up the houses.
5) our group motivation and strengths continues

Isaiah 40:21-31

21 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
Has it not been declared to you from the beginning?
Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
23 He it is who reduces rulers to nothing,
Who makes the judges of the earth meaningless.
24 Scarcely have they been planted,
Scarcely have they been sown,
Scarcely has their stock taken root in the earth,
But He merely blows on them, and they wither,
And the storm carries them away like stubble.
25 To whom then will you liken Me
That I would be his equal?” says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high
And see who has created these stars,
The One who leads forth their host by number,
He calls them all by name;
Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
Not one of them is missing.
27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God”?
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become weary or tired.
His understanding is inscrutable.
29 He gives strength to the weary,
And to him who lacks might He increases power.
30 Though youths grow weary and tired,
And vigorous young men stumble badly,
31 Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
